Diglett
Stats:
HP: 10
Atk: 55
Def: 25
Sp: 45
Spe: 95
Total: 230
Placed Tier: RBY LC
Type: Ground
Description: Diglett has a unique niche in being one of the few ground types able to outspeed and OHKO Gastly and Abra with Earthquake. This is important because those are the top two most used Pokemon in RBY LC. However, not all is peaches and cream for this seemingly well-off mole. He has non-existent defenses, meaning he will either be switching out and back in a lot, or will be killed if he doesn't OHKO the opponent. Despite these flaws, Diglett's speed can prove to be quite effective in tight situations.
Set #1: Attacker
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Slash / Body Slam
- Substitute
Set Explanation: Earthquake and Rock Slide are the bread and butter of this set, providing fantastic coverage. For the most part you'll be using Earthquake, receiving STAB and plowing through opponents. Rock Slide allows for Diglett to hit flying opponents who can't be hit by Earthquake. Slash is used to capitalize on Diglett's high critical hit ratio and add onto Slash's already high rate of scoring critical hits. Although you could opt to go with Body Slam instead for the paralysis chance. Substitute is there in case you predict a different Pokemon switching in that can take out Diglett, allowing Diglett to get a hit or two in or even KOing the opponent.
Counters: Exeggute, Oddish and Bellsprout are Diglett's worst nightmare, easily walling any of its attacks and firing back with their powerful grass attacks. Any strong neutral attack can take care of Diglett however as Diglett has paper thin defenses. Omanyte's defense is high enough where it can take and Earthquake and OHKO back with Hydro Pump or Blizzard.
