Description: An absolute monster in LC. A fantastic special stat along with an even better defense stat allows Omanyte to sponge key attacks such as Abra's Psychic and then fire back a Body Slam, KOing or crippling it. Not all is sunshine and daises for the reincarnated fossil. Gastly hopeless walls it and dispatches it quickly with either Mega Drain or Thunderbolt. Also Omanyte's low attack gives it trouble. If you can play past its weaknesses though, Omanyte can douse your opponent's team without a worry.

Set Explanation: Blizzard and Hydro Pump take advantage of Omanyte's impressive Special stat, washing away rock, ground and fire types, while taking out flying and grass types with Blizzard. Body Slam gives it a chance against Pokemon such as Abra who would otherwise sponge its attacks. The last slot is mostly filler, but can be effective. Substitute can be useful if the opponent switches in an Abra, it can proceed to Body Slam from behind the Sub, possibly crippling the opponent. Mimic can be used to possibly net Psychic, give it a slight chance against Gastly. Toxic is for crippling anything that Omanyte can't touch.
Counters: Gastly, Gastly, Gastly. Omanyte can't do anything unless it managed to snag a Psychic, and even then, unless Gastly is weakened, it will Mega Drain or Thunderbolt Omanyte into oblivion. Exeggute, Bellsprout can KO Omanyte but must be wary of Blizzard.
