Description: Gastly, possibly the most potent special attacker in RBY LC. With a special stat of 100 and great speed to back it up along with a fantastic movepool, Gastly can tear holes through teams. Gastly has a problem though, one of the other potent most used attackers in RBY LC, Abra, can OHKO it, and Gastly has no reliable way to take it out. If you play Gastly to its strengths though, it can wreck havoc among unsuspecting teams in RBY LC.
Set #1: Attacker

Set Explanation: Thunderbolt rips apart water types. Mega Drain takes out any rock / ground types that would come rain on Gastly's parade, such as Geodude. Psychic is a strong move that hits many Pokemon in the tier for neutral damage, and explosion is your only way of killing off Pokemon you couldn't touch otherwise, such as Abra.
Set #2: Sleep Attacker
- Hypnosis
- Dream Eater
- Thunderbolt / Mega Drain
- Explosion
Set Explanation: This set requires more prediction. Hypnosis is used to put multiple Pokemon to sleep, the most useful aspect is to predict an Abra switch in, then use Explosion to take it out. Dream Eater is a powerful move which restores your HP and hits most Pokemon in the tier hard. Thunderbolt / Mega Drain completely depends on your preference, if you have a problem with Pokemon such as Geodude, run Mega Drain, otherwise, run Thunderbolt.
Counters: Abra, Psychic wrecks it but it must be wary of Hypnosis and Explosion. Ground types can use Earthquake or other similar moves to OHKO it and take advantage of its weak defenses, but they must be wary of Mega Drain.
